In line with what the project is all about which is women participation in decision making process through advocacy. LHI organized a two (2) days training on advocacy for the women group leaders which took place in Tamaje Civic Hall of Life Helpers Initiative, the training which took place on the 20th and 21st of July, 2017 had in attendance 32 women leaders and 2 women desk.
The meeting was planned to train the women leaders on how to identify issues and advocate for issues, how to stand firm as capable leaders in the community. The session commenced with explanations on advocacy: Advocacy as a process of supporting and enabling people to:
- Express their views and concerns.
- Access information and services.
- Defend and promote their rights and responsibilities.
- Explore choices and options.
The training took them through the theory of change where the participants knowledge was enhanced on what theory of change is and the 3 dimension of theory of change which is the Voice, Space and Accountability. The women were questioned on what the world think of women and what women represent, it was a participatory session as the women were able to identify challenges faced by women, solutions to these challenges and how to defend and promote their rights.
