It is obvious that among rural dwellers, poverty is very high. Poverty can be addressed by social nets and putting in place mechanisms that will support households in making decisions and taking actions that can help them to grow their livelihood base either as small holders farmers, petty traders and housewives. Our strategy include Entrepreneurial Trainings and Development, Financial Education, Cash Transfer Programming, Vocational Skill development. These are driven through mobilization, the formation, strengthening, and mentoring of Women groups, Village Saving & Loans Groups/Cooperatives, Youth Groups, organizing seminars, workshops and training programs.
Through these strategies and platforms, we support the beneficiaries with accurate and adequate financial information, income generation skills, financial management, and understanding market mechanisms and dynamics as well as provide them with grant supports where available, linkages and referrals to funding capital. Some of these groups also provide soft loans used for small capitals through their in-house contributions and savings. Continuous capacity building and mentoring is provided regularly.
Life Helpers also support the community leaders through their community level structures called Ward Development Committees on Leadership, Entrepreneurship, Decision making, Negotiation, Advocacy Skills, among others.
