Job Summary The Safety and Security Manager (SSM) will advise the National Executive Director (NED) and the National Management Team at the national or state office on how to manage risks faced by Life Helpers Initiative (LIFE) personnel, properties and programs. This will be achieved by providing professional security approaches/advice, developing capacity in respect of safety and security awareness, ensuring adequate communication networks and procedures, preparedness, and information management, which will strive to create a culture of safety and security among staff, beneficiaries,  and support program implementation in all the location of interest.   The Safety and Security Manager will support the development, reviews and updates of LHI’s Safety and Security Policies; implement and where necessary update and maintain security advisories and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) which are in line with the LHI’s security protocols. In coordination with the State Team Leads, State Management Teams and State Security Point of Contacts (SSPoCs) and under daily supervision of the National Executive Director (NED), s/he will be responsible to train and support staff to ensure that any relevant risks are mitigated and minimized.   Job Responsibilities and Task
  1. Develop and manage the organisation safety and security plans, policies and procedures relevant to the operational context, assess levels of functionality and identify opportunities to improve functionality related to (but not limited to): incident monitoring, information management and communications, staff movements, security risk assessments, etc.
  2. Assist the National and State Management Team (NMT/SMT) to prepare for major events and critical incidents where security is concerned.
  3. Implement and maintain LHICARE Safety and Security Protocols including Contingency
  4. Develop relevant network with other security staff and organizations to obtain information which can be analyzed to better understand the security environment and, through this, develop standard operating procedures relevant to the security setting in which programs are being implemented while working in close cooperation with SSPoCs to address emergencies,
  5. Support the NMT/SMT and advise them of possible actions in a time of critical incident or crisis and immediate action to be taken to prevent potential harm to staff safety or security or cause damage to LHI assets.
  6. Coordinate information through the relevant reporting lines during serious security
  7. Provide security updates and reports on the security situation in the country and the steps being taken to and to be taken to mitigate against risk.
  8. Strengthen the capacity through regular training and mentorship of staff and assist and provide guidance to Security Assistants and the security focal points at field levels
  9. Provide guidance to the SSPoCs in responding to safety and security incidents and activate contingency plans.
  10. Carry out training including but not limited to the following areas: Risk assessment, Reputation and Acceptance, Communication (Radio and Satellite phones), Personal & security awareness
  Qualification and Experience This position’s minimum required level of education, experience, and skills necessary to qualify for the organization’s expectations for job performance include:
  1. A bachelor’s degree or equivalent qualifications in security management, humanities, or other areas of specialty.
  2. 2 years minimum experience in the same position
  3. Ability to read, speak and write English language and any other languages in Nigeria especially hausa is most preferred
  4. Possesses analytical and strong relational skills
