The Impact Beyond the Classroom: A Village Head's View

LHI Communications 10 June 2026 1 min read

For Alhaji Rufai Maccido Salah, village head of Dogon Daji in Tambuwal LGA, ABEP is transforming the mindset of an entire community.

"When this programme started, we were hopeful, but today we are witnessing something truly remarkable. The children are excited about learning, eager to attend classes, and proud to be part of the programme. What touches me most is that even children who did not receive school bags still come to class every day because they genuinely want to learn."

Older out-of-school children are now seeking enrolment, and parents are requesting adult learning programmes after seeing the change in their children.

"I regularly visit the centres and can see the difference for myself. What may appear small to others has brought significant change to our community. We are grateful to the European Union, UNICEF, Life Helpers Initiative, and the Sokoto State Government for giving our children hope, confidence, and a brighter future."
