Hauwau Abubakar, 17 years old, from More’ community in Kware Local Government, Sokoto State. She grew up in a farming family with limited income, making it difficult to pursue her dream of education. From a young age, she helped her family by gathering firewood from nearby farms, yet her passion for learning remained strong.
Through an initiative by the Eleva Foundation in partnership with UNICEF and the Ministry for Women and Children Affairs (MoWCA), Hauwau was enrolled in a 7-month tailoring program. With the guidance of service provider Hafsat Ibrahim, who inspired all the beneficiaries to value skill acquisition, Hauwau embraced her training with dedication. Supported by learning materials provided by MoWCA through the Life Helpers Initiative (LHI), she honed her tailoring skills within the stipulated time.
Encouragement from her caregiver further motivated Hauwau, empowering her to become self-sufficient and able to contribute to her family’s well-being. Grateful for the support, Hauwau shared,
