Desperate for relief, Maryam turned to the Life Helpers Initiative (LHI), a vital partner in the BHA project aiming to improve health outcomes in Sokoto. With the help of the LHI team, Maryam received crucial medications and was promptly referred to the Usmanu Danfodiyo University Teaching Hospital (UDUTH) for specialized care.

After thorough examination at UDUTH, Maryam was diagnosed with a breast abscess, a painful infection requiring urgent attention. The news was daunting, but with determination and support from her family and the LHI team, Maryam faced the challenge head-on. The journey to recovery was arduous, with Maryam enduring physical agony and emotional turmoil. However, after just two weeks of treatment at UDUTH, Maryam experienced a miraculous turnaround. Her strength returned, the pain subsided, and she could once again care for her child.
