NEI Plus Project with Life Helpers Initiative in Sokoto State

Project Overview
The Northern Education Initiative Plus (NEI Plus), in partnership with Life Helpers Initiative (LHI), aimed to improve access to quality basic education for marginalized children in Sokoto State. The project targeted out-of-school children, particularly girls and children from disadvantaged communities, to enhance their literacy and numeracy skills while strengthening the education system.

Key Objectives

1. Increase Access to Education: Provide learning opportunities for out-of-school children through community-based education programs.
2. Improve Quality of Education: Strengthen teaching capacity and provide learning materials to enhance literacy and numeracy outcomes.
3. Build Community Engagement: Mobilize community stakeholders to support education initiatives and ensure sustainability.

Activities

• Establishing community learning centers for non-formal education.
• Training teachers and facilitators on innovative and inclusive teaching methods.
• Distributing teaching aids and learner-friendly materials.
• Engaging communities through advocacy and awareness campaigns to support education initiatives.

Impact
The NEI Plus project improved literacy and numeracy outcomes for thousands of children in Sokoto State. It also strengthened community ownership of education programs, paving the way for sustainable improvements in access and quality of basic education.
