“We Don’t Want the Project to End”

On 30 January 2026, the OHA Consortium Team Lead, Mr. Ikechukwu Ekwebelem (IRC), alongside representatives from consortium partners COOPI, GISCOR, and Life Helpers Initiative (LHI) paid a courtesy visit to His Highness Alh. Sani Umar Jabbi, Sarkin Yakin Gagi, at his palace in Sokoto South.
The visit reaffirmed the consortium’s commitment under the USG funded OHA project to improving the wellbeing of vulnerable households, particularly internally displaced persons (IDPs), through integrated support, including cash assistance, access to healthcare services, and livelihood opportunities.
During the engagement, beneficiaries shared compelling testimonies. One community member who had been battling tuberculosis (TB) explained how access to medical care and assistance supported his recovery and enabled him to establish a small business. Others spoke about their children returning to school and improved access to essential health services.
In his remarks, the Sarkin Yakin Gagi acknowledged the visible impact of the project and made a heartfelt appeal: “We don’t want the project to end.” He also appreciated @USG for the positive change the project has brought to the community.
At Life Helpers Initiative, we remain committed to working with the OHA Consortium and partners to deliver accountable, impactful, and community centred support.
