People living with disabilities

Mallan Hudu Isah Kebbe, the vice principal of AA Raji Special school in Sokoto, advised other people living with disabilities (PLWD), to concentrate on things that build their capacities and enable them to give back to the society, especially education. For him, disability doesn’t prevent anyone from doing well and should not make anyone regret anything in life.
“As a PLWD, we are able and have the ability to do great things in life, so we should not be disabled in spirit as well as physically because everything is possible as long as we put our minds, work, and time into it. “Test your maximum and see how much you can do because I am a testimony and an example,” he said.”
He also appealed to the government to put more effort into building more schools in the state, especially in the remote communities, where we have some hard-to-reach areas, to enable easy access to education for the PLWD at those levels. Local governments that have structures on the ground should be equipped, and trained teachers should be employed.
